Engineering & Innovation Lab

Tune an instrument. Without relying on a screen.

A multisensory tuner project connecting sound acquisition, signal processing and accessible feedback for musicians.

DEVELOPMENT / MULTISENSORY INTERACTION

The need

Tuning often relies on a visual indicator. HapTone explores other ways to communicate pitch differences and make the interaction usable by blind and partially sighted musicians.

Technical building blocks

  • Audio acquisition through a microphone or sensor
  • Frequency estimation and pitch analysis
  • Multisensory feedback, including haptic and audio feedback
  • Ergonomics and independent use

A documented development approach

The May 2026 publication describes signal processing and work with Polytech’ Paris-Saclay under Amine Khettat’s supervision. Availability, final specifications and conditions of use should be confirmed with Blind Systems.

Project information — 27 September 2026

This page describes the publicly documented project status. Published work and its limitations should guide discussions; commercial availability and suitability for your use case must be confirmed with Blind Systems.

Let’s build what’s next
